Everton Struggle with City's Class

MCFC U18s 1 - 0 EFC U18s

In the re-arranged Saturday fixture City secured their fourth victory of the season in their first proper group game against Everton at Platt Lane. The victory over third placed Everton now means we temporarily move two points above Liverpool at the top of our group with a goal difference of plus seventeen.

The winning goal came from Robbie Mak in the thirty third minute when he chased onto a ball over the top and confidently touched the ball passed the Everton goalkeeper and finished well from a tight angle.

Everton are a good side as they are regularly are main group challengers and they use their big players well, but although the score was only one nil and any slip up and Everton could have got back into the game most of the quality came from City. Their movement and attacking flair are balanced by hard working players all over the pitch that made it look like their was only really going to be one winner in this game.

Next up for the U18s is a trip to Bolton next Saturday at Lostock Farm, Ox Hey Lane, Lostock.

City: Clegg(GK), Trippier(Capt.), Cunningham, Wabara, Boyata, Tutte, Benali(Cieslewicz 87), Ibrahim, Mak(Redshaw 85), Nimely-Tchuimeni, Chantler.

Subs: Johansen(GK), Paldan, Guidetti.

The U16s were fortunate today against an Everton side that showed more desire; but City held on for 2-2.
